The New Zealand Maori Toki, or Adze as many know it, is a symbol of strength. It is based on the Greenstone adzes used in many Maori tools for scraping and cutting which had to be strong to with stand the scraping and cutting motions. This is where many today believe its meaning of strength comes from.
